We create new elegance
Goldsmith workshop Sofić S., with a long tradition, is today a recognizable brand of handmade, unique jewelry.
Through careful study of ancient craftsmanship, by creating replicas of ancient jewelry and decorative objects found in our region from the 3rd century BC to the 20th century, we created a new trend – authentic, modern design that guides you through the ages.
Using the techniques of old masters, with precious metals and precious and semi-precious stones, we preserve thousands of years of tradition and culture from oblivion, creating modern pieces sought after and beloved beyond the borders of our country. Today our jewelry is worn around the world.
By reviving ancient goldsmithing techniques, we have created works of art intended for all those who seek timeless beauty and inspiration through art, culture and aesthetics.
How did we turn tradition and cultural heritage into a brand?
Jewelry that originally emerged several thousand years ago, in a new, modern form, has been worn under the Sofić S. brand for 15 years on the streets of Sarajevo, London, Stockholm, New York…
Striving to showcase the true treasure of this land, under the supervision of top archaeologists and ethnologists, we spent years building a collection of faithful replicas and jewelry inspired by traditional motifs, creating a trend of sophisticated, unique pieces that preserve thousands of years of tradition and culture through the ancient techniques of old master craftsmen.
Original materials were used – gold, silver, precious and semi-precious stones – and special attention was paid to working techniques to produce pieces that faithfully reflect both the skill and the artistic gift of those who made the originals long ago. Each piece is made from multiple segments and is the work of an entire team, not a single person, and a single piece sometimes takes several days to make.
Journey through history
The journey takes you from the most distant prehistoric fibula, through the coinage minted by the rulers of the medieval Kingdom of Bosnia as proof of their wealth and power, to the filigree jewelry of Bosnian goldsmiths.
Fibula is a decorative object used in the Bronze Age as a clasp or hairpin; the variant in our replica was made more than 4,000 years ago.

Fish-shaped earrings are more than two millennia old – today's form is gently modernized, elegant, and fits perfectly into the styling of our time.

Golden earrings and necklace from the 10th–12th century are made using the granulation technique. Their sophistication comes from the complexity of production, with 35 to 40 small spheres arranged on each "berry" in a precisely developed, captivating motif.

The royal part of the collection consists of coins and one special ring.
Coinage has always been a mark of a ruler's power, and so the Bosnian kings minted their own. Like other rulers, they stamped their own coats of arms and marks on the coins. From the initials we can see that these coins were issued by Tvrtko II Kotromanić, Tomaš and Stjepan Tomašević – powerful kings who circulated coins made of silver from the land they ruled, minted in local workshops.

In the place of Mile, near Visoko, King Tvrtko I was crowned in 1377 with the full title "King of the Serbs, Bosnia, Coast, Hum, Western Lands, Usora and Podrinje". In the coronation church a golden ring was found, set with a mountain crystal that rises in a strangely "kingly" way. The ring is large, 2.5 cm in diameter – whoever wore it back then wore it over a knight's gauntlet woven from thin wire.
There is no precise historical proof that the ring truly belonged to King Tvrtko I, but given where it was found and that it demonstrably belongs to his reign, we may grant ourselves the liberty of imagining it on the royal hand.

Belenzuka is a type of bracelet made using a complex technique that joins more than 600 individual parts.

With its lavish beauty it catches the eye on the hand of every woman who wears it, and pairs perfectly with the so-called bridal ring, both the work of local goldsmiths from the 19th century.

Filigree is a technique in which local craftsmen showed their skill and imagination for hundreds of years, while women enjoyed the beauty of the earrings they produced. Filigree jewelry under the Sofić S. brand fits any style and remains an essential piece for everyone looking for timeless items "with a story".

Let your style tell your story.
Welcome!
Yours,
Zlatar Sofić S.
